Nowadays, extra classes at teacher's private house becomes commonly with almost students at schools. It has been the real situation of Vietnam education for a long time. Many solutions to reduce student's extra classes have been given but they do not work properly.

1. Causes that lead to the existence of extra classes:

It is sad to know that low salary paid for teachers is one of the main reasons that force them to open the classes at home. They can not fit in and afford to have essential demands in life. As a result, opening the extra classes at home is one choice to meet their needs.

It is the fact that some students do not satisfy with their teachers at class or the way they explain the lesson. They hear that the other teachers at next class are better and then rush to extra classes. Besides, some are worried not to catch up with their friends who attend out-school classes. Then they enlist and go to the teacher's house with the feeling of being equal. Moreover, the tendency to extra-classes is sometime made from the parents who always want their children to make the headway without knowing it's good or bad for them.

2. Good and bad effects of extra classes:

There are some good points of extra classes. Firstly, they create good opportunities for the bad students who can not handle all the basic lessons at class. They need more help from teachers to make them clear about the lessons. Secondly, extra classes are good choice for excellent students who want to develop their special skill and knowledge in a specific field of study. There are not many cases like the ones above but many extra classes still open to all kinds of students.

Most students answer with a sigh when being asked about their extra classes. The problem has bad influence on them.

First of all, hectic schedule at school is enough but they have to suffer more classes outside. Not enough time for a rest, too tired to do the homework or to review the lesson, always in a hurry state , no time to talk to family etc will not be problems if the students are free from extra classes.

Perhaps it is a shock to hear that the teacher at school is not happy if his students do not study at his house. It is not a common issue but some students have to suffer the unfair treatment from the teacher. It would be a warm talk for the ones who come to his house and an ignorant attitude with the ones who don't. Therefore, to be equal, many students choose the safe solution to have extra classes.

Another bad effect is that the students' attendance is a result current tendency. It may be hard to avoid the feeling of not catching up with the others at class. They go to outside class to be sure that they have the same lesson like the others. The wrong thought leads to the big consequence. They are wasting time and energy for a stupid reason.

Not only students but the family also gets involved. The extra class fee seems to be a hard burden in some families. Although some children can study themselves at home, the parents still force them to have extra classes like the other parents' children. This action not only wastes their money but their children have pressure when going to classes also.

They cannot evaluate their children's level, send them to teacher's house, and hope for a clear improvement.

In some cases, students are innocent victims. Do you want your children to come home late in the evening and then too tired to do their homework? Have you ever considered it is a burden on the children's shoulder that they have to go to extra class? Do ever think that it is counter-productive for the children themselves due to the over-loaded schedule; they forget almost everything and leave the extra classes in tiredness?
