When you are a freshman at college, it could be a very daunting year of all because you still have more to learn and you had to adjust with basically about everything. Everything around you is new and you seem to find yourself caught up in a daze without knowing what next to do. This especially happens after your parents drop you off to your first day to school and if you do not take fast methods of adapting easily in this new environment, chances are that you will be left behind so I suggest you take in few routes to get started.

The quickest and easiest way for you to adapt to this environment that sometimes can be hostile is to make friends. College is tough without friends. So put out your deepest and sincerest smile and make friends although some would really be hostile to you. But do not be put off by those kinds of people; bullies are just bullies with nothing to be proud of but their sense of power. Choose the kind of friends you want to go with. Do not and I repeat do not be too naive because some people will take advantage of your innocence.

Another would be to explore the whole university, if possible go through every corner and be familiar with the environment you are in. This will help you especially if the university is big. You will never get lost anywhere you go if you try and rise up to the challenge of familiarizing the whole school. Perhaps you can do this with your new found friends too, if you share the same interest and sentiments about the whole new school thing. I assure you that you will just do fine if you are familiar with the environment you are in.

Part and parcel of exploring the whole university is to search for directions on what course you really want to pursue. Look at different fields where you had some interests to, if possible list them all and go through the list one by one. Select the field from the list that you will really find yourself loving every single minute of being in that chosen field and most of all choose the field that will make you enjoy, not give you stress. Well, stress is part and parcel of everything. It is just that it will decrease if you love what you are doing.

Whatever your performance in high school is, strive to do better than that performance this time. To survive in your freshman year is to strive for above average or excellent performance especially if you do not want to change school after failing 3 major subjects from your chosen field. It would be such a waste if you have already settled yourself into that new environment only to be kicked off and forced to enroll to other school because you failed. Transferring to other school would be such a waste of your time and talent so make sure you are going on a step ahead.
